In our house, Halloween is a time of expression and fun. My middle child (pictured here) is in a huge fantasy stage right now, along with many other girls her age, and dreams of becoming a proper fairie. On one of our Halloween adventures, Boo at the Zoo, a fairie she was....the snow leopard told me so. :)
My goal for any season is to include and incorporate my kids' art in our home decor. As a designer, I tend to lean toward the pretty, whimsical, and dressy. This time of year that habit can sometimes get in the way of what my kids think is fun and cool as far as decorations go. We chose to go fairly low key and only use a couple of pieces to make our home look Halloween-tastic! I think we nailed it!
By choosing a focal area, each of my kids got a say it what should go into our display. After we put it together they couldn't wait to tell dad who chose what and where it went. I get so wrapped up in work these days and choosing to take a whole day to do holiday "stuff" was a little nerve raking for me but I am so glad I did. So worth it but so easy to forget when life gets going.
